Now that I've retired, I have time to indulge my various interests, including music composition. This album, my first in several years, I expect to be mostly instrumentals with only—maybe—a couple of vocals.

The first track on my new album, 'Timelines'.

While I was trying out various music editing and creation software, I fell upon a program called cgMusic. This app, which was written by a student as his masters' thesis. The program generates entire pieces of music, following the standard rules of music composition. Of course, as the program author remarks, A computer can create hundreds of songs in a second but it will never be able to tell which one it likes the most.

An instrumental that's out-of-this-world.

A metaphysically-oriented friend, Chris Carmona, played a piece she had written on the piano after a meeting of our studies group. I loved it, and asked permission to arrange it. She calls it Altronia, after a science fiction story she'd been working on.

I can't promise to have time to do any real blogging this week, except maybe for the day after Thanksgiving. So here to tide you over, is a piece of music I wrote in 1969, arranged in 2003 (while driving my big rig!) and finally orchestrated last week.
