All about maintaining a proper weight, including the surprising REAL reason humans put on excess weight.
Carrying more weight than is optimal causes poor health and shortens one's lifespan. This is so obvious, that major corporations (pharmaceutical, food, medicine) have all conspired to keep us fat, and therefore buying their products in a doomed attempt to get thin. Think that's a "conspiracy theory"? Fine…so how do YOU explain your inability to lose weight and keep it off?
I, too, had tried it all. I was obese, with the additional symptoms of obesity: High blood pressure, sleep apnea, and diabetes. I experimented with exercise, the Atkins diet, and more. It wasn't until I discovered toxins are the actual and ultimate reason most people get fat, that I was finally able to shed those excess pounds.
But that sounds like crazy talk when one hears it out of the blue. It only makes sense when one understands how I came to discover it. To that end…here's my journey.

I have been thinking of getting a hydrocolonic for some time. (What the heck's that got to do with Ann Coulter, you ask?)

Fit or fat? Hard choices.
My last serious attempt at dieting was the Atkins Diet, two Januarys ago, in preparation for "looking good" (a lost cause at best) on our May cruise. I did lose some weight. But of course the diet ended when the ship left Tampa, because the real purpose of a cruise is to provide a venue for conspicuous overconsumption of food; and my diet never resumed.
Toxins Made Me Fat

How environmental toxins are the secret cause of all our fat woes.
Now, the body, which is very delicately and cunningly designed, knows that the toxins are loose and causing problems. So it begins to play with your mind. Just as it makes you look for something to drink when it needs water, it makes you give up on your diet when it needs a safe place to store those toxic molecules. And so the cycle concludes: You give up, gain back the fat you lost, and feel better even though you are heavier than is healthy for you.
My History of Toxins

All about every toxin to which I've been exposed.
My upcoming appointment with Dr. Crinnion's office comes with a request that I pre-fill out an 11-page questionnaire. This document is intended to give the examiner a feel for my life-long toxin exposure…a tricky task, since, as we go through our day-to-day lives, we don't usually tally our exposure to various environmental toxins which, by definition, always surround us.

All about my physical complaints.
I'm 59 years old, and I'm not as frisky as I was when I was, say, 30. Or 40. Or 50, though even then I was starting to fade. The general wisdom in our culture is that this is a normal and unavoidable consequence of age. But is it?

I just got back from my first appointment with my new environmental medicine doctor. The goal: To begin tallying my toxic load, and determine how to reduce it for weight loss and improved health and energy.

How I got tested for my heavy metal content.
So, this morning I had my "Provoked Urinary Toxic Metals Assay". The purpose of this test is to learn which, if any, heavy metals my body has collected and been unable to get rid of all these years. It involved peeing into a bucket, getting an IV, and peeing more into another bucket. A good time was had by all.

It can be argued that DDT had the immediate, beneficial effect of saving perhaps hundreds of millions of lives from being lost to malaria by killing the mosquitoes that spread it. However, a common insect mutation would eventually have left us with a mosquito population immune to DDT. And because this chemical is so pervasive and long-lasting, it's unchecked use would have eventually destroyed the bird populations that are the mosquito's natural predators. Eventually, malaria would have bounced back, worse than ever.

How I replaced poisonous personal products with toxin-free choices.
"What goes on you, goes in you." This truism is based on the fact that your skin is not only your largest organ, but your largest organ of ingestion. You breathe through your skin—if you are 100% covered with grease or grease-based makeup, you will suffocate even while gasping for breath. You take in minerals from a bath, which is why people soak in hot springs or Epsom Salts. And if you soak in poison, or rub it on your body, your skin absorbs that, too. Plus which, toxins absorbed by the skin are not filtered by the kidneys and liver as they are if they've been eaten. So it's really important to avoid putting toxins on your skin if at all possible.

It's been a month since my last visit to the Toxin Doc. Today was my scheduled appointment, early actually, at 8:30. And then I had a dentist appointment scheduled at 10. Plus, work. So it's been a busy day but not too busy to share it with you.

I was a little nervous about having a woman administer the colonic. As I explained to Dr. Crinnion, when it comes to having things stuck up my butt, I'm much more used to guys doing it.

It isn't always easy to let go of things that no longer serve us, especially if they were once treasured and have been held onto for years.
